- Indian Mehendi
Mehindi or Mehendi is a main cultural aspect of Indian culture. Designs painted on the skin with a paste made from powder from the top leaves of the henna plant is "mehendi" or henna body art. The ground henna green powder dries into an orangish brown stains after 30 minutes. At Cosmos Indian Store we used the natural herbal alergy free henna paste to our customers.
The vibrancy and permanence of the design completely relied on how long the henna sets on the skin. The dye penetrates and stains the top layers of skin but eventually disappears completely in one or two weeks diepends up on the skin.
Henna is a natural translucent dye from the plant that blends with the wearer's natural skin tone, so henna tattoos or tatto, even created from a single batch of henna, appear in different colors on different people. Tattoo colors range from pale peach to dark maroon. Some appear light orange, while for others it might be reddish or brown stain.
Henna tattoos last anywhere from a week to 10 days, depending primarily on the thickness and nature of the skin on which they are applied. Application of the designs may take anywhere from a few minutes to hours completely depending on the intricacy of the design. Henna tattoos do not hurt and they are natural and completely safe;
In the art of Mehendi or Mehndi, henna designs are applied to the hands and feet especially of brides to decorate them for their weddings. Now a days modern henna designs are applied to differnt parts of the body. Although people mention this as "tattoo" to refer to henna art,this henna are natural and it is not permanent.
Mehndi is the local variant of henna designs mainly in India and neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, women use mehndi for festive occasions, such as weddings, religious events and traditional ceremonies.
